Responsibilities

Shawmut is looking for a New York or Boston based Manager of Planning and Scheduling.  The purpose of this role is to provide the project team with planning and scheduling services that lead to client opportunities/satisfaction and profitability. This role is responsible for providing support during the preconstruction phase (schedules, plans and presentations to the owner) and input for a $250+ million, multi-office business group.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES are as follows:

 

Project Preparation

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploy throughout preconstruction process
  • Ensure proper set-up of and adherence to established best practices/processes
  • Partner with Estimating, Project Management and other key stakeholders
  • Serves as a scheduling expert and resource to assist Project teams develop baseline work plans that can be tracked throughout the construction process

Project Schedules

  • Work with project teams to ensure that every project is set up with a viable schedule, including procurement.
  • Provide constructability feedback (challenges, risks, solutions)
  • Transition project to construction phase activities
  • Assist project teams with proper schedule updating and reporting.
  • Work with operations to periodically review schedule and procurement progress on active projects.
  • Drive recovery process for projects facing scheduling and procurement challenges
  • Provide oversight throughout the construction process of projects that have been awarded 

Project Pursuit

  • Participate in effort that drives development of proposals and interview preparation
  • Provides input during RFP process around logistics, schedules and constructability
  • Participate in client meetings, interviews and presentations
  • Develop schedule options and project logistics in deal reviews

People Development

  • Collaborate with Estimating and Project Management staff
  • Manage other preconstruction managers as needed
  • Coach and fill in gaps for construction operations staff who need scheduling support
  • Drive and participate in continuous learning efforts (onboarding, training)

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction experience

  • Complex project experience in retail or similar high end, fast paced projects

  • LEAN construction experience preferred

  • Strong Presentation and proposal skills

  • Vast knowledge of all trades and all phases of the preconstruction processes: scope, time frames/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures, conceptual, final pricing/competitive bidding and market conditions

  • Construction related bachelor’s degree preferred
