We are looking for a Technical Manager who will focus on the glazing systems and metals for our projects.  This role is responsible for advising internal teams on storefront, curtain wall, and glazing projects. This manager will help to interpret plans with Project Managers to efficiently set up and manage projects. This person will be involved in helping Project Managers oversee this trade on projects, which includes reviewing contracts, submittals, maintaining job schedules, ordering and coordinating materials with superintendents for their projects.


Project Set Up – Ensures that proper tools are in place prior to the beginning of a project. 


  • Reviews and validates estimates from blueprints.
  • Reviews and validates accurate and up to date pricing information from databases and suppliers to utilize in estimates.
  • Develops comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploys this throughout the project set-up.
  • Works with client and project teams to ensure that there is a schedule in place during project set up and sub-bidding that reflects that project strategy and is sufficient to estimate from and to purchase subcontractors with.
  • Develops a purchasing schedule and strategy to anticipate and address/resolve purchasing challenges during the early stages of pre-construction.
  • Provides input to the Project Executive, Estimating and Purchasing regarding the suitability of subs for the job.
  • Collaborates with Estimating and Purchasing in the up-front set up of projects to ensure profitability, client satisfaction and the best subs for the job. 

Project Execution – Assists Project teams to deliver projects the Shawmut Way. 


  • Helps Project Manager to execute the glazing (glass) project phases including pre-construction, construction, closeout, and post-construction services.
  • Works in partnership with the Project Superintendent and project teams to:
    • Maintain an updated and accurate schedule.
    • Identify and focus on critical issues related to constructability including associated costs and logistical issues.
    • Fills in gaps, in all areas, as needed to ensure that project control and execution requirements are met (i.e. Extra work order slips, etc.). 

Financial Management – Assists Project Manager to validate costs for the storefront work.  


  • Helps the Project Manager to validate change orders to ensure the extras presented to the owner get approved and are fair.

Technical Trainer 


  • As part of scope, conduct and coordinate training for CMSTs, Superintendent’s, and Project Manager’s based on needs.
  • Create Training Packages for both the Office and the Field for systematic use on core technical topics on storefront, glazing (glass) work for the Field or procurement for the Office.
  • Engage in Superintendent and PM interface for Procurement Strategies for storefront/ glazing/ glass impacts.


  • 1-3 years in construction operations
  • Minimum of 3  years curtain wall and storefront experience
  • Education:Bachelors in related field is preferred

Additional Role Specific Skills:


  • Solid knowledge of MS Office (Project, Excel, Word and Outlook, AutoCAD, Outlook, Analyzing Information, Reporting Skills, Estimating, Documentation Skills and Quality Focus
  • Experienced in the bidding process and an understanding of the local trade industry
  • Requires strong problem resolution and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to assess processes and make recommendations for improved efficiency
