We are looking for an Assistant MEP Manager to work with the Engineering Services Division to support Shawmut's New England area business. 

Responsibilities

This role is responsible for assisting MEP/FP related tasks including pre-construction planning, design review, MEP/FP coordination, quality control regarding installation of building systems, commissioning, owner training, and project close-out.

 

Pre-Construction Services including, but not limited to:

  • Assist in providing advice and insight into estimating budgets ensuring all MEP components are included and price estimates are accurate/realistic.
  • Assists group estimating departments by reviewing subcontractor scope of work, evaluation of bids, etc. as needed.
  • Assists with design review to ensure MEP design and critical assessment are complete as needed.
  • Consults with project teams on cost estimates, layout and constructability questions regarding MEP systems as needed.

Construction Services including, but not limited to:

  • Accompanies MEP Manager to perform timely site inspections at stage of project that allows correction/repair of site deficiencies without disruption or impact to cost, schedule and client disruption. Informs construction team of major problems day of visit either in person or via e-mail.
  • Helps to provide onsite consulting and assessment services to project teams, as needed utilizing the process and enforcing the standards outlined in the MEP Manager Manual. Reviews/evaluates MEP submittals with project team.
  • Follows up on incomplete or deficient items on projects and assure completion.
  • Assists in defining requirements for all MEP systems, as needed and shares information with project team for inclusion in the O&M manual.
  • Ensures MEP systems are operating as intended prior to occupancy by Owner/Client.
  • Evaluates warranty claims on MEP systems as needed.

Project File Maintenance including, but not limited to:

  • Records all discussion/decisions that impact the project team, schedule, budget, etc.

Other duties will be assigned, as needed. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Facilities is preferred
  • 2-5 years' experience in commercial construction industry
  • 2-5 years' experience with MEP design, estimation and construction
  • Experience with virtual design and construction applications
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong technical and communication skills
  • Flexibility to travel within New England
