Shawmut is looking for a Manager of Preconstruction Planning and Scheduling in the hospitality business line.  The purpose of this role is to support the project teams and estimating efforts with planning and scheduling services. This role is responsible for providing support during the preconstruction phase (schedules, plans and presentations to the owner) and input for a $250+ million, multi-office business group.


RESPONSIBILITIES are as follows:


Project Preparation

  • Working with the estimators and project teams, develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy and deploy throughout preconstruction process.
  • Ensure proper set-up of and adherence to established best practices/processes
  • Partner with Estimating, Project Management and other key stakeholders
  • Serves as a scheduling expert and resource to assist project teams develop baseline work plans that can be tracked throughout the construction process

Project Schedules

  • Work with project teams to ensure that every project is set up with a viable schedule, including procurement and design phases.
  • Provide constructibility feedback (challenges, risks, solutions)
  • Transition project to construction phase activities
  • Assist project teams with proper schedule updating and reporting (preconstruction).
  • Work with operations to periodically review schedule and procurement progress on active projects. 

Project Pursuit

  • Participate in effort that drives development of proposals and interview preparation
  • Provides input during RFP process around logistics, schedules and constructibility
  • Participate in client meetings, interviews and presentations
  • Develop schedule options and project logistics in deal reviews

People Development

  • Collaborate with Estimating and Project Management staff
  • Manage other preconstruction managers as needed
  • Drive and participate in continuous learning efforts (onboarding, training)


  • 5+ years of construction experience

  • Complex project experience in hospitality or similar high end projects

  • LEAN construction experience preferred

  • Strong Presentation and proposal skills

  • Vast knowledge of all trades and all phases of the preconstruction processes: scope, time frames/field execution, typical missed scope/exposures, conceptual, final pricing/competitive bidding and market conditions

  • Construction related bachelor’s degree preferred
