At Shawmut an Assistant Estimator is responsible for multiple processes related to project estimating. These include drawing/document review to develop an understanding of the project scope; invitation to bid process which involves initiating the process of obtaining bids from Subcontractors, reprographics, process management, ensuring that all document are made available to everyone involved and bid tabulations/evaluations to ensure a comprehensive range of Subcontractor bids.
An Assistant Estimator is also responsible for ensuring that the required infrastructure and information required for the development of a project budget exists.
In addition to project estimating, an Assistant Estimator is responsible for relationship management. This includes building and maintaining positive subcontractor relationships and developing critical relationships within Shawmut.
