    The purpose of this role is to enable Shawmut to capture a significant share of the Academic opportunites in Southern California Education, and ultimately grow it to in excess of a $100 million dollar stand-alone business within five (5) years. 

     

    They will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong client relationships in the Academic market and will leverage these relationships to secure a stronghold for Shawmut.  

     

    This role will be expected to represent the Shawmut brand both internally and externally with new and potential clients, market influencers, business partners and Shawmut staff members.   

     

    Responsibilities

    • Strategy –Implement the LA market strategy
      • Contribute to the development  of the annual Business Line plan with respect to the Southern California market and partner with Regional VP to develop and implement specific strategies to meet plan goals.
      • Develop and implement ways to stay current in the Southern California market and incorporates this knowledge into long and short term plans and goals.

     

    • Business Development:  Ensure sales and growth goals are met 
      • Build the “Shawmut Brand” in the Southern California Market and serve as the face of Shawmut.
      • Has overall accountability for growing Shawmut’s Academic market base in the LA area to pre-established targets.
      • Partner with Regional/Business Line VP to ensure continued contact with and satisfaction of existing clients, resulting in repeat business.
      • In collaboration with Regional/Business Line VP, make go/no go decisions on deals.

     

    • Project Execution:  Ensure that projects are delivered the Shawmut Way
      • Provide input and support to ensure that project teams are staffed in manner that best meets the needs of the individual client.
      • Partner and Support the the Directors of Field Operations, Purchasing and Estimating to ensure strong overall project execution.

     

    • Financial Management:  Achieve financial control and profit goals for each project.
      • Create and manage the Institutional LA G&A budget.
      • Deliver a pre-established level of overall profitability.

     

    • People Development/Engagement:  Ensure high levels of retention and maximum performance, driving moral, pride and engagement in the LA office. 
      • Inspire, educate and coach team to deliver superior client service, profitably. 
      • Actively participate in all appropriate business line meetings  and company-wide training and initiatives (e.g. initiatives to improve processes and systems, etc.) to support and promote the value to others of involvement and to further company goals.
      • Support hiring and developing top talent in LA while maintaining proper staffing levels to meet business needs in the LA Market.

     

    • Relationship Management:  Develop and maintain critical relationships and leverage to drive business results. 
      • Develop strong relationships and collaborate with business line executives and internal support functions to deliver on goals.
      • Build and promote strong relationships with the subcontractor community and leverage these relationships to drive strong execution and financial results. Ensure that project teams deal professionally and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors instilling this philosophy at all times.
      • Develop and maintain client and industry (broker, bld owner, etc) relationships at the appropriate level reinforcing Shawmut’s commitment to continuously addressing their needs and interests.

     

    Qualifications

    • A minimum of 10 -12 years of related experience
    • Proven track record of delivering successful projects, building and maintaining ongoing successful client and sub relationships, successfully developing and managing staff.
    • Construction related Bachelors Degree Required

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
