Overview

 

The Construction Sr Business Analyst role is to partner with Starlite users and the IS team to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient business, financial, and operations systems and processes in support of core organizational functions.  The Business Analyst elicits, analyzes, specifies, and validates the business needs of project stakeholders by interviewing stakeholders and gathering, compiling, and analyzing and conveying user requirements, business cases and system requirements to development teams.   This individual will apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to maximize IS system investments and plays a pivotal role in ensuring IS understanding of business requirements.

Responsibilities

 

  • Meet with decision makers, systems owners, and end users to gather and define business, financial, and operational requirements, and system goals, and identify and resolve systems issues.
  • Assists in facilitating design sessions in prototyping new systems for the purpose of enhancing business processes, operations, and information process flow.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Partnering with the IS team and developers, identify and establish scope and parameters of systems analysis to define outcome criteria and measure-taking actions.
  • Effectively communicate expectations to IS team members and direct stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Work with stakeholders and users to prioritize collected requirements.
  • Track milestones and deliverables.
  • Set and continually manage expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Collaborate in the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications, and enhancements to existing applications. Ensure all system features are utilized.
  • Participate in the QA of purchased and developed solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized.
  • Assist in first line troubleshooting for key applications and imports.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of business systems.

CRITICAL SKILLS/ SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Understanding of construction principles, practices, procedures, means and methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated initiative, follow through, resourcefulness, efficiency and attention to detail.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn new software and applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn organization structure and stakeholders.
  • Ability to create a culture of inclusion and belonging by acting with courage, humility and curiosity; desire to learn about others and self-reflect.

 

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, computer science, finance, or information systems required.
  • 3-5 years direct work experience in a reporting/analyst role, including experience in all aspects of process development and execution; 5+ years without construction background.
  • Experience working in a Construction Company
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
  • Ability to create systematic and consistent requirements specifications in both technical and user-friendly language.
  • Ability to apply statistical and other research methods into systems issues and products as required.
  • Extensive practical knowledge in importing data for use in report software, spreadsheets, graphs, and flow charts.
  • Extensive experience with core software applications, including CMiC.
  • Familiarity with MS Office project planning tools (Project and Visio)
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
