Responsibilities

The Commercial Project Executive (PX) is responsible for pursuit of opportunities, pre-construction, contract negotiations, and the high-level execution, controls, cost, risk and business management of a single or multiple projects. They must also maintain strong client relationships, ensuring satisfaction and new business.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develops and refines client strategy with regional leadership to ensure profitability of projects of a complex nature and/or multiple projects equaling a revenue range of over $50M t0 $100M.
  • Responsible for staffing, management, and coordination of all project team members, especially the Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and Superintendent, ensuring profitability of project.
  • Responsible for project completion and financials, contract negotiation, subcontractor risk, critical success factors, and client satisfaction.
  • Applies detailed/hands-on knowledge of project requirements and deliverables.
  • Proactively identifies project risk, develops and drives recovery plans to minimize damage to all aspects of the project including financial results, client relationship, and project team relationships.
  • Develop high-performing teams through supervision, training, coaching, and mentoring.
  • Continuously cultivating relationships with previous clients and working with Business Development in pursuit of new clients.
  • Oversees closeout on completed projects. Provides meaningful feedback on PMs, CMs, and Supers at end of each project and provides input on annual evaluation.
  • Foster a culture of safety on job sites and in Shawmut offices; acts as a safety role model and holds others accountable. Lives the model of “The Shawmut Way.” Operates as a trusted advisor to leadership, as a “steward of the culture,” all while fostering professionalism, diversity and inclusion.
  • Attending industry related events as necessary to help develop and build the Shawmut brand.

CRITICAL SKILLS/ SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

  • Thorough knowledge of senior leadership and region legal trends/risk.
  • Outstanding relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly in English to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to create a culture of inclusion and belonging by acting with courage, humility and curiosity; desire to learn about others and self-reflect.
  • Ability to build team relationships, stay organized, handle various projects at one time, follow up and make accurate decisions.

 

 

Qualifications

PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Experience: 10+ years of Commercial Construction Management experience (ground up core shell construction- restoration and or interiors) required
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and work experience
  • Additional Role Specific Skills:
    • Vast knowledge of all trades and phases of the entire construction process: scope, cost, time frames/field execution, typical risks & exposure
    • Extensive people management experience
