Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a Superintendent - Special Projects to join our team in New York. You will oversee the physical construction of the assigned Special Project done with a high level of quality, profitability and by meeting or exceeding the construction schedule.  This role is responsible for properly managing the process and the relationships with clients, subcontractors and Shawmut staff with Warranty, Closeout and Special Projects under $1M.  You will be responsible for all field activities, project set up, project execution, financial management, people development and relationship management.

  • Develop comprehensive understanding of project strategy, goals, and client commitments through review of General Conditions and project requirements.
  • Work in partnership with PM to maintain an updated and accurate project schedule that reflects the changes in project status and that meets the cost and time requirements of the project
  • Demonstrate and maintain effective and open dialogue with the project team regarding changes in work, job conditions, subcontractor relations and any deviation in the direction of the project
  • Always promotes positive relationships by dealing expertly and fairly with all subcontractors and vendors while instilling this philosophy in the project team.
  • Use expertise in building and knowledge of specific job to deal with issues effectively while demonstrating effective communication and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in construction industry, with focus on building construction and renovation work aligning with Shawmut's project profile.
  • This is NOT an entry level or early in career opportunity, we are looking for an experienced and, when needed, a hands on builder
  • Experience with successful client service delivery a must
  • Experience with complex, fast paced, and high visibility projects a plus
  • Experience in managing, training, and developing people
  • NY DOB License preferred but not required
  • Flexibility with schedule/work location including out of state travel, evenings or weekends will be required

NYC Base Salary Range: $100,000 – $170,000  The range stated is specific to New York City.  Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
