Responsibilities

The Director of MEP Services is responsible for leading the strategy, coordination, oversight, and technical execution of all building systems within the portfolio of a region’s projects. This role leads the full lifecycle of MEP efforts – preconstruction, construction and post-construction – across multiple projects.  This includes providing an unparalleled level of service, partnership, communication, and technical assurance to internal and external clients.

Department Leadership

  • Lead regional MEP strategy, operations, budgeting, and staffing aligned with business and project goals.
  • Recruit, develop, and manage high-performing MEP teams, including performance management and talent planning.
  • Optimize resource allocation, utilization, and forecasting to support project delivery and profitability.
  • Serve as an MEP subject-matter expert in client pursuits, interviews, and project win efforts.

Preconstruction

  • Partner with regional and preconstruction leadership to align MEP budgets, schedules, and execution plans.
  • Provide MEP expertise for conceptual estimating, scope development, and bid reviews.
  • Review MEP designs and documents for constructability, code compliance, risk, and value engineering.
  • Collaborate with VDC/BIM teams to support coordination and clash resolution using Revit and Navisworks.

Project Execution

  • Oversee MEP installation and performance across multiple projects to ensure quality, safety, and schedule compliance.
  • Coordinate directly with MEP subcontractors and vendors to support successful execution and issue resolution.
  • Lead site inspections, testing, and corrective actions to protect cost, schedule, and system performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key trade partners and suppliers.

Closeout & Commissioning

  • Lead MEP start-up and commissioning plans, including testing, balancing, and system verification.
  • Ensure MEP systems are fully operational prior to owner occupancy.
  • Support warranty reviews and maintenance requirements for MEP systems.
  • Contribute to complete and accurate O&M manuals and project closeout documentation.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 10–15 years in the commercial construction industry, including 7+ years in MEP design, estimating, and construction.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering or construction management required.
  • Role‑Specific Skills: 30‑Hour OSHA certification and LEED AP credentials preferred; strong proficiency with BIM is essential.
  • Extensive knowledge of MEP systems.
  • Strong capabilities in project management, budget control, and risk mitigation.
  • Proficient in BIM/VDC coordination.

Salary Range Information

Boston Base Salary Range: $175,000 – $270,000 The range stated is specific to Boston Placement. The range listed depends on many factors, including, but not limited to, years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles), and internal company equity.
