Here’s a glimpse into what we offer:
Shawmut is growing its Mission Critical business, and we’re looking for an experienced data center construction professional who is passionate about developing people, sharing technical knowledge, and building stronger project teams.
As the Mission Critical Technical Training & Development Manager, you’ll help shape how we prepare, develop, and grow the talent delivering our Mission Critical projects. Drawing on your own construction experience, you’ll translate technical knowledge, project lessons, and industry best practices into practical training that teams can apply in the field.
This is more than a traditional training role. You’ll have the opportunity to build and influence Shawmut’s Mission Critical technical development strategy, creating learning pathways for experienced construction professionals entering the data center sector, early-career employees building their technical foundation, and field leaders preparing for greater responsibility.
Working closely with Mission Critical leadership, project and field teams, Safety, Learning & Development, and technical subject matter experts, you’ll help ensure our people have the knowledge and skills needed to successfully deliver complex, fast-paced Mission Critical projects.
Develop and drive Shawmut’s Mission Critical technical training strategy, aligning programs with business growth, upcoming projects, employee development, and client expectations.
Partner with Mission Critical leaders and project teams to identify technical knowledge and capability gaps and prioritize training based on upcoming work, project feedback, quality trends, and lessons learned.
Build a structured learning pathway for experienced construction professionals transitioning into Mission Critical, covering data center fundamentals, project delivery practices, and sector-specific technical requirements.
Develop role-based learning for early-career talent, helping employees build the technical knowledge and practical project skills needed to progress in their careers.
Create and deliver technical training covering data center infrastructure, MEP systems, construction sequencing, fit-out, commissioning, Integrated Systems Testing (IST), project handoffs, and turnover.
Bring real-world project experience into training by incorporating lessons learned, quality expectations, inspection practices, RFIs, submittals, coordination challenges, and rework prevention.
Develop learning opportunities for field supervisors and emerging leaders focused on planning, communication, subcontractor coordination, accountability, and leading work in a Mission Critical environment.
Partner with Safety and technical subject matter experts to ensure programs reflect applicable site safety requirements, technical standards, industry best practices, and Shawmut processes.
Deliver training through a combination of classroom instruction, virtual learning, jobsite training, and hands-on application to effectively reach both field and office teams.
Partner with PST and Mission Critical Business Managers to develop curricula, deploy programs through Shawmut’s learning management system, track employee participation and progress, and evaluate program effectiveness.
Build relationships with project leaders and technical experts to keep training practical, relevant, and current as technologies, construction methods, client expectations, and Shawmut’s Mission Critical portfolio evolve.
Support Mission Critical leadership in communicating Shawmut’s commitment to technical excellence, workforce development, and preparing our people for increasingly complex project responsibilities.
We’re looking for someone who combines hands-on Mission Critical construction knowledge with the ability to teach, mentor, and develop others.
Significant experience in Mission Critical and/or data center construction, with a strong understanding of how complex projects are planned, coordinated, built, commissioned, and turned over.
Strong working knowledge of MEP systems and the technical coordination required on data center projects, including familiarity with commissioning and Integrated Systems Testing.
Experience working directly with project and field teams and an understanding of the day-to-day challenges involved in delivering fast-paced, technically complex construction projects.
The ability to take complex technical concepts and turn them into clear, practical, and engaging learning experiences for employees with different levels of experience.
A passion for coaching, mentoring, teaching, and developing others, whether through formal training or hands-on project leadership.
Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build credibility with field teams, project leadership, technical experts, and senior leaders.
A collaborative approach and the ability to bring together subject matter experts from across the organization to develop training that reflects real project experience and best practices.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to build, manage, and continuously improve multiple learning programs as the Mission Critical business grows.
Comfort working in a growing environment where you’ll have the opportunity to build programs from the ground up, identify opportunities, and influence how technical development evolves over time.
Mission Critical construction requires teams that can operate in highly technical, fast-paced environments where quality, coordination, commissioning, and operational readiness are critical to project success.
As Shawmut continues to grow in this sector, developing that expertise internally is an important part of building a sustainable Mission Critical business.
In this role, you won’t simply deliver existing training. You’ll help build the programs, technical learning pathways, and development strategy that prepare our people for the next generation of Mission Critical projects.
Your experience won’t just help deliver projects—it will help develop the people who deliver them.
Eligible candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship or restriction, now and in the future.
